Use these trusted travel-planning resources to review documents, entry rules, baggage policies, airport security, weather, transportation and other details before you leave.

Documents

Passports and Travel Documents

Confirm your passport expiry date, destination validity requirements and that every booking name matches the traveller’s passport exactly. Keep secure paper and digital copies of important documents.

  • Review passport validity well before departure.
  • Confirm documents required for children travelling abroad.
  • Carry consent letters where applicable.
  • Know what to do if a passport is lost or stolen.

Entry Rules

Visas and Entry Requirements

Entry requirements can depend on citizenship, passport held, destination, transit country, length and purpose of stay, travel history and current health requirements.

My Travel Guy can assist with trip planning, but each traveller remains responsible for verifying and satisfying all entry and transit requirements.

Coverage

Travel Insurance

Consider emergency medical, cancellation, interruption, baggage, delay and supplier-default coverage. Coverage depends entirely on the policy purchased, its limits, exclusions, deductibles and claim requirements.

  • Read the complete policy wording before purchase.
  • Review pre-existing-condition exclusions carefully.
  • Save receipts and supporting documents for possible claims.
  • Keep emergency-assistance details available while travelling.

Wellness

Health and Medications

Review destination health recommendations and speak with a qualified health professional when appropriate. Carry enough prescription medication and keep essential medication in your carry-on baggage.

  • Keep medication in original labelled packaging.
  • Check whether medication is restricted at the destination.
  • Carry supporting medical documentation where appropriate.
  • Plan for accessibility and mobility needs in advance.

Airport Screening

What Can I Bring Through Airport Security?

Common questions involve liquids, aerosols, hairspray, shampoo, sunscreen, perfume, cosmetics, medication, food, batteries, portable chargers and electronic devices.

In Canada, permitted liquids, aerosols and gels in carry-on baggage are generally limited to containers of 100 mL or less inside one clear, resealable one-litre bag, subject to exemptions and current CATSA rules.

Calgary Airport Transportation

Plan airport transportation early for morning departures, holidays and peak travel periods. Options can include sedans, limousines, taxis, rideshare, hotel shuttles, public transit and airport parking.

My Travel Guy provides transportation links as a convenience and does not control a provider’s availability, pricing or services.

Stay Connected

Phones, Internet and Electricity

  • Review international roaming, eSIM or local SIM options.
  • Download offline maps and travel documents.
  • Avoid sensitive transactions on unsecured public Wi-Fi.
  • Confirm plug, voltage and adapter requirements.
  • Ensure two-factor authentication remains accessible abroad.
  • Save emergency contacts both online and offline.
A plug adapter changes the shape of a plug. It does not necessarily convert voltage. Check each device before connecting it abroad.
